Feeding Birds is Simple and Fun

It doesn't take expensive or fancy equipment to feed birds.
All you need to know are a few basics, such as
what birds like to eat, and where they like to eat.

Some birds feed on the ground:
towhees, brown thrashers,
quail, doves, fox sparrows, and many others.

Other birds prefer to feed out in an open area
where they have a clear view if a predator should happen by.
These birds include most of the songbirds, such as
cardinals, titmice, chickadees, etc.

Your bird feeder can be as simple as a piece of
flat board nailed to a post, or as elaborate as the popular copper-roofed variety.

Common household or natural items can be used
to feed the birds.  For instance, a plastic gallon
milk jug can have a few holes punched in the bottom
for moisture drainage and have a large hole cut in
one side to allow birds to enter.  Suspended from
a tree limb, this will suffice quite well for holding
sunflower seeds, suet, or wildbird seeds.

A large open pinecone can be spread with
PB and Raisins
and suspended from a tree limb.
